Ethnic Minority Affairs Commission

The Ethnic Minority Affairs Commission (EMAC) was established in 1986 to encourage and ensure the participation of NDEA's ethnic minority members in the Association's activities, offices, and leadership training opportunities.  The commission funds scholarships for prospective minority teachers and monitors NDEA's Affirmative Action Plan.

Members of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Commission are: Chair David Woods (Wahpeton); Reiko Barnett (Fargo); MarLarae Cook (UTTC student); Jaymee Hoffer (Bismarck); Dina Laskowski (Jamestown College); Delaine Lutz (VCSU student); Amber Mattson (Fargo); Tammy Shaw (West Fargo); Brad Srur (Grand Forks); Melody Staebner (Fargo); and Vince Williams (Fargo).

Ethnic Minority Scholarships

Given to encourage and assist minorities to enter the teaching profession.

Awarded by the NDEA Ethnic Minority Affairs Commission ~ Deadline -- March 1.
