The North Dakota Education Association in cooperation with local associations around the state is proud to announce its 2010 Legislative Candidate Recommendations (Click here for a list of recommended candidates by Legislative District). These individuals were recommended by members who do what you do every day, working in a school and ensuring that every child gets a great public school education, recommended candidates based on their responses to the candidate interview questionnaire (See the questions the candidates were asked here) and for incumbents based on their past record of performance on education issues (See the 2009 vote record).
As Professionals you play a vital role in shaping and influencing policies affecting your practice and expertise. Every decision made affecting classrooms and public schools is at some level a political decision. That is why we work hard to ensure that members are involved in visiting with candidates to get their views on education related issues. We encourage you to support these candidates as they will best support Great Public Schools for Every Child and your professional and economic well being.
Some candidates are performance recommended, designated by the P after the Recommendation. These candidates are incumbents whose record of support for public education in the most recent term in office has surpassed NDEA RA guidelines of a minimum 70% vote record and the total vote score of 80 when considering their leadership, accessibility, rationale for votes, and committee assignments. See this article for additional information.
